How to read it
GIA describes the Asscher as a square step cut with a high crown and a small table, giving a “hall of mirrors” look like an emerald cut in a more compact form. Its cropped corners make the outline nearly octagonal, the Israeli Diamond Institute notes, and older stones with large bevels can look octagonal.
