Diamond symbol
A small solid black diamond at the bottom of a Pokémon card marks it as an uncommon card, between common and rare.
How to read it
The diamond is the middle one of three basic rarity symbols: the circle is common and the star is rare. CGC, the card grading company, places the rarity symbol in the bottom right or bottom left corner, beside the set number, and describes it as the easiest way to tell how rare a card is within its set. The Pokémon Company International kept the black circle, diamond and star unchanged when it revamped its rarity symbols for the Scarlet & Violet Series in 2023.

This page says what a marking on a Pokémon card means, from The Pokémon Company International’s rulebooks and announcements and published guides. Pokémon and its card markings belong to Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. and The Pokémon Company; the drawings are simplified sketches, not the cards’ own artwork. It doesn’t authenticate, grade or value any card.
Shiny uncommons
A diamond can appear on a shiny card. Wargamer notes that the reverse holo finish is used on uncommon cards as well as rares, and The Pokémon Company International says the black symbols go on marking rarity on parallel foil cards, its name for reverse holos.
Look-alikes
On a Basic Energy card from the Scarlet & Violet Series on, the circle in the bottom right corner is not a rarity symbol: it is the card’s Energy symbol, which The Pokémon Company International added there in 2023 to make the type of Energy attached to each Pokémon clearer. The Energy type symbols page covers the 11 types.
