How to read it
Nissan’s 2024 Rogue manual says Rear Automatic Braking assists the driver when reversing towards stationary objects directly behind the car, with a warning and automatic braking if needed. The RAB system OFF warning light comes on with the ignition and goes off once the engine starts. It illuminates when RAB is turned off in the vehicle information display with the shift position in R (Reverse), and if it illuminates while RAB is on, the system may be unavailable.

What NHTSA calls it
NHTSA calls this kind of system rear automatic braking: it detects a potential collision while reversing and applies the brakes automatically if a crash is imminent. NHTSA notes that makers use different names for the same driver assistance technologies.
