Toyota's names for the lights

Toyota's names for several lights differ from the everyday ones. The malfunction indicator lamp is the check engine light, the SRS warning light is the airbag light and the charging system warning light is the battery light. The low engine oil pressure warning light and the high coolant temperature warning light are the oil pressure and coolant temperature lights, and the electric power steering system warning light is the power steering light. The slip indicator light, which flashes while the traction and stability control systems are working, is the stability control light on other makes.

The brake system warning light, the ABS warning light, the tire pressure warning light and the low fuel level warning light go by their usual names: see the brake, ABS, tire pressure and low fuel pages.

Lights of Toyota's own

The PCS warning light belongs to the Pre-Collision System. With a buzzer, it means the system has a malfunction; without one, the system has become temporarily unavailable. The VSC OFF indicator comes on when Vehicle Stability Control and traction control are turned off, and "Traction Control Turned OFF" appears on the multi-information display.
