Hyundai AUTO HOLD indicator light

Hyundai’s AUTO HOLD indicator light: white when Auto Hold is switched on, green when it is holding the stopped car, yellow for a malfunction.

How to read it

Hyundai’s 2024 Tucson manual says Auto Hold keeps the car at a standstill after the driver has stopped it with the brake pedal, even once the pedal is released. The AUTO HOLD indicator light is white when Auto Hold is activated with the AUTO HOLD switch, green when the car has been brought to a complete stop with Auto Hold on, and yellow whenever a malfunction with Auto Hold is detected. When the accelerator is pressed in D or R, Auto Hold releases and the light changes from green back to white.

Hyundai lights vary by model and year. The owner’s manual for the vehicle says what each light means on it, and a Hyundai dealer or a qualified mechanic can say what it means for a particular car.

How Auto Hold works

SlashGear describes Auto Hold as a function that applies the brakes without the driver keeping pressure on the pedal, working with the electronic parking brake and the anti-lock brakes. It says the button may have its own light, or the words Auto Hold may light on the dashboard display.

What the manual says to do

If the light stays yellow while driving, Hyundai’s manual says: “have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.”
