How to read it
Hyundai’s 2024 Tucson manual says Lane Following Assist detects lane markings or a vehicle ahead and helps center the car in its lane. Pressing the Lane Driving Assist button on the steering wheel turns it on, and the white or green indicator lights. When lane markings or a vehicle ahead are detected below 110 mph (180 km/h), LFA helps steer and the indicator is green; when the steering is no longer assisted, the green light blinks and changes to white.

Hyundai lights vary by model and year. The owner’s manual for the vehicle says what each light means on it, and a Hyundai dealer or a qualified mechanic can say what it means for a particular car.
A malfunction
When LFA is not working properly, the manual says the message “Check Lane Following Assist (LFA) system” may appear and a warning light may come on.
With Highway Driving Assist
On cars with Highway Driving Assist, a separate Highway Driving Assist indicator light is green when operating, white in standby and off when the system is off.
What NHTSA calls it
NHTSA calls this kind of system lane centering assistance: it provides continual steering to keep the vehicle centered in its lane. NHTSA notes that makers use different names for the same driver assistance technologies.
Look-alikes
The Lane Safety indicator light is for Lane Keeping Assist, switched on with a long press of the same button. Nissan’s Steering Assist indicator is a steering wheel for the same kind of system.
